We combine environmental awareness and practical efficiency to deliver effective and low impact chemical weeding solutions.
We are experienced in carrying out chemical weeding operations or spraying as it is commonly known. We have the necessary qualifications (NPTC Pa1 and Pa6), experience and equipment to take on contracts large and small. We have worked for the Forestry commission on chemical weeding projects as part of heath land restoration and management as well as protecting timber crops from competition for weeds and unwanted ‘regen’. forestry spraying usually requires the removal of rhododendron, gorse and unwanted saplings, but site clearance can require a range of broadleaf species to be targeted.
We use a combination of knapsack sprayers to ensure that nothing is missed along with our ATV (quad bike) which has a custom pump powered tank with multiple long reach lances for covering lots of vegetation effectively. The quad allows us to carry 95 litres of mixed chemical to the target location which not only improves productivity but reduces downtime for refills. The coverage provided by this setup is exceptional and it completely coats the plant, making spraying the likes of large rhododendron stands a straightforward task.
Limiting the impact of the effects of chemical weeding is important to us. Ensuring that conditions are right for spraying operations, gaining the correct training and certification and taking care whilst applying the mixture all help to prevent unwanted damage to the habitat and the species we are trying to protect. This care and attention also improve success rates where the target species is concerned. We also take the handling of pesticides very seriously and take great care to ensure that we make sufficient COSH assessments before use and record applications with data sheets. The use of appropriate PPE (as with all our forestry operations and tree surgery work) is also taken seriously so that we protect ourselves from any harm.
